Overview:
Boston Scooper Bowl is an ice cream festival that has been in Boston since the
early '80s. Initially, it was held on Boston Common as part of the annual New
England Dairy Festival. For just $1, visitors could enjoy as much ice cream as
they wanted.

The five original sponsors, Brigham's, Baileys, Emack & Bolio, and Hendries, scooped their wares and raised $1,000 for the Jimmy Fund. The event has grown ever since.
Over the past decade, the "Scooper Bowl" has raised around $1 million. The money is used for cancer care and research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

The original five scoopers have become nine: Ben & Jerry’s, Brigham’s/Élan, Double Rainbow Gourmet Ice Cream, Edy’s, Good Humor/Breyer’s, Häagen–Dazs, H.P. Hood, Kemps, and Garelick Farms. More companies would like to participate, but cannot due to space limitations.
Even though the number of vendors is limited, there seems to be
no limit to the number of flavors that people can sample. The standbys are
popular; vanilla, chocolate and strawberry are always favorites. They are joined
by many new tastes like KaBerry KaBoom! (Ben & Jerry's), Dinosaur Crunch (Garelick
Farms), and Moose Tracks (Double Rainbow.)
Although China is where ice cream originated, the United States of America
consumes the most of the tasty treat. Accordingly, Boston must be the capital of
our ice cream nation. Our Scooper Bowl proves it!
