Patriot’s Day begins with the
coveted flag raising ceremony in Government Center, followed by
the famous Patriot’s Day Parade. And be sure not to miss the ceremonial wreath laying and service at the grave of Paul Revere in Granary Burying Ground.
It was this day back in 1775 that Paul Revere set out on horseback for a midnight ride to warn countrymen and political figures that the British were upon them and their lives may be in danger.
The re-enactment of Paul Revere and William Dawes’ rides is the highlight of the celebration. |
“The British are coming, the British are coming,” is shouted from the National Lancers as they ride from Boston to Lexington. Another tradition also takes place on the days surrounding Patriot’s Day.
Be sure to check out all the festivities
on Marathon Monday as runners from around the world gear up for the
famous Boston Marathon and join the locals, businesses and runners
in displaying your red, white and blue colors.
