Life is goodŽ Pumpkin Festival is upon us and Boston Common will once again be transformed into a pumpkin patch to benefit Camp Sunshine, a national retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.  The 2006 Life is goodŽ Pumpkin Festival is produced in partnership with the Boston Parks & Recreation Department.

For the third straight year, Life is goodŽ and Camp Sunshine will attempt to beat the world record for most lit jack-o-lanterns in one place. To help break the record, all festival-goers are encouraged to bring a carved pumpkin and a votive candle or a pumpkin to carve on Boston Common.

In October 2005, 24,581 jack-o-lanterns lit up the Boston Common as more than 45,000 people joined Life is goodŽ and the Boston Parks & Recreation Department, raising $182,000 for Camp Sunshine. The event fell just short of the Guinness World Record of 28,952 jack-o-lanterns, held by the town of Keene, NH.

The Life is goodŽ Pumpkin Festival will feature activities suitable for all age groups. In addition to all day carving and plenty of jack-o-lanterns, festival-goers will find great food, live bands and entertainment, a costume parade, scarecrow stuffing, face painting, magic shows, the Gargantuan Gourds Guessing Game, and much more.
