to the Virgin Mary with a street fair. Part religious, part cultural, and all fun, the Fisherman’s Feast incorporates all that is vibrant, festive and good about Italian culture.
You don’t have to be Italian to enjoy
the Fisherman’s Feast. Live traditional and popular music; street
vendors selling delicious sausage, pastry, calamari, and homemade
pizza; dancing to live bands; and local artisans selling a variety
of Italian arts and crafts delight visitors and give them the
opportunity to learn more about and participate in Italian culture. |
This year, singer Frankie Avalon will be performing on Friday at 9pm. There is also a special mass held on Saturday afternoon in honor of the Madonna.
The festival’s climax is the “Flight of the Angel,” where members of the local Fisherman’s Club and their families carry a statue of the Madonna through the streets of the North End to the delight of the crowd.
This year’s three-day festival starts on Thursday, August 18 and continues until Saturday evening. Bring your family for some tasty, wholesome fun.
