Location: Peabody Essex Museum, Salem

Date: July 23
Time:
1:30 pm-4 pm
Cost: Included with admission; advance registration required

Overview:

Boston’s Art Escapes program for kids six and older offers a lovely opportunity to learn painting outdoors in the plain air tradition demonstrated in the Painting Summer in New England exhibition now showing at the museum.

The afternoon begins with a brief tour of the exhibition where participants learn
about the artists and their New England subjects.

Then, it’s outdoors to the Federal Garden, where the instructor will demonstrate watercolor and acrylic
paint mediums.

Learn more about techniques, the importance of light and shadow, and choosing a subject matter.

If you or your young one have always wanted to learn about the special something New England offers painters, this is your chance.

Accompany your child to the session and both of you will leave a little more informed and appreciative of the artists who have turned the light into amazing works of art. Who knows, you might be nurturing an artist of your very own.
