For pure
acoustics and unobstructed sightlines, the historic Sanders Theater is simply
one of the best in town. Constructed in 1870 and housed in historic
Memorial Hall, the 1,167-seat theater offers a unique and intimate 180-degree
design, which provides an unusual proximity to the stage.
It was built to
function as lecture hall, but since it's inception, many revered figures have
graced it's stage including Winston Churchill, Theodore Roosevelt, and Martin
Luther King.
Sanders is presently
home to several undergraduate choir and orchestral groups and also serves as a
venue for many professional performance ensembles including
The Boston Philharmonic, The Boston Chamber Music Society, The Christmas Revels,
Masterworks Chorale and The Boston Baroque.
