The Salem Witch Museum takes
visitors back to the year 1692, when superstition ran rampant in New England and
hundreds of young girls were accused of being witches, were incarcerated, tried,
and ultimately hanged for a crime of which they were innocent.
The museum offers an informative and
exciting history lesson to take visitors back to that era, using
life-size figures, dramatic lighting, and narration, giving all
a close look at the Salem Witch Trials of the summer of 1692.
The Salem Witch Museum’s new exhibit, “Witches: Evolving
Perception” is especially interesting and profiles the public’s
changing ideas as to what constitutes a witch and witchcraft.
Kids will love the onsite museum store where they can purchase
all sorts of museum memorabilia and other fun witch-related
items.
Some small children may find the
presentation to be too intense but kids of mid-elementary age and up
shouldn’t have a problem. The museum is approximately a 30-minute
drive from Boston in average traffic.
