The Plymouth National Wax Museum is touted as one of Plymouth’s best
attractions by a number of different travel guidebooks. Located on
Cole’s Hill overlooking Plymouth Rock, this unique museum tells the
story of the Pilgrims from beginning to end, recreating the years
of persecution in the Mother Country, their escape to Holland, their
courageous voyage on the Mayflower, and ultimately, their
arrival in the New World.
One-hundred eighty life-sized figures are arranged in scenes
throughout the Plymouth National Wax Museum and an excellent
soundtrack informs visitors as to what’s occurring at each
depiction. You’ll see famous early Pilgrims, like Myles
Standish, Priscilla Mullins, and John Alden, just to name a few.
The exhibits are especially enjoyed by
children and are perfect for those that are studying American
history in school. Before you leave, be sure to visit the monument
marking the gravesite of those Pilgrims that died during the first
harsh winter in Plymouth.
