The Pilgrim Hall Museum, called America’s museum of Pilgrim possessions,
is just one of many wonderful family sites located in Plymouth,
MA. The museum endeavors to tell the story of America’s founding
through exhibitions of Pilgrim and Native American possessions and artifacts.
The collections at this fascinating museum include furniture
such as cradles, chests, and chairs; arms and armor; portraits
and historic paintings; 17th century personal and household
items; and the vessel Sparrow Hawk, which brought 25 Pilgrims
from England to America in 1626. The Sparrow Hawk represents the
only surviving remains of a 17th century trans-Atlantic vessel!
The Pilgrim Hall Museum hosts many special events, including
monthly Family Weeks which include free
admission for children under the age of 17 and arts and crafts
projects that resemble the activities enjoyed by 17th century kids,
like embroidering or quilting. There’s also a museum shop onsite for
purchasing fun souvenirs to remember your visit to Salem.
