Have You Been Here? Write about it!

The Old Sturbridge Village was once a prosperous farm that belonged to wealthy Massachusetts resident David Wight. Today, it’s one of the area’s largest outdoor living history museums, reminiscent of a 19th century New England community complete with houses, shops, stores, and a meetinghouse.

Visitors will be charmed by this village, which is a lovely place to explore on a pleasant day in eastern Massachusetts. Kids will love visiting the printing office, tin shop, cider mill, shoe shop, the old Thompson Bank, and the town pound, where free-roaming livestock were kept until their owners could be located.

Old Sturbridge Village is a great place to spend the day, but in addition to the regular sites, kids can also sign up for the 2 and 3-day Discovery Camps that take place several times throughout the year, where they’ll participate in activities indicative of a kid’s life in the 19th century.

There’s a gift shop and bookstore on-site and the town of Sturbridge offers plenty of eating establishments for hungry visitors.
