Have You Been Here? Write about it!

The Old South Meeting House is simply filled with American history! This building, once the largest in the colony and built in 1729, began as a Puritan Meeting House and later became one of the most popular sites for public meetings.

Disgruntled colonists gathered here to discuss their unfair treatment at the hands of the British and what should be done about it. The most important meeting in this building concerned what to do about the controversial tea tax imposed by the Brits and it was in this very building that Colonists made the decision to dump 342 chests of tea into the harbor.

Today, families can visit the historic Old South Meeting House and view interactive exhibits, life-size figures, and artifacts pertinent to the fight for freedom. Aside from its permanent exhibits, this historic site also hosts guest lectures, concerts, interesting walking tours, and other special events, many of them appropriate for visitors of all ages.
