The Boston Children’s Museum was founded in 1913 by a group of Boston
teachers who wished to establish a museum where young children could
not only learn but be actively involved in learning.
The museum is touted as being one of
the first to employ the “hands-on, interactive approach” to
discovery. Today, many have followed their early example.
Designed for pre-school and younger elementary aged children,
this museum is home to a host of fascinating exhibits on a
variety of subjects including castles; boats; African-American,
Latino and Japanese culture; construction; toys; science;
recycling; and weaving. You’ll also find exhibits from such
favorite Public Television shows as Arthur, Clifford, and ZOOM.
The Children’s Museum of Boston also hosts
a number of special events and families can even attend a slumber
party at the museum, spending all night playing with the exhibits…or
sleeping, if you prefer.
