Pioneer Village, subtitled Discover Salem 1630, is a delightful
recreation of the town of Salem in the early to mid 1700s. Those
who’ve worked on creating the village have endeavored to accurately
reproduce the early colony originally, founded by Roger Conant and his small but hardy
band of settlers.
Part of the Essex County National
Heritage Area, Pioneer Village boasts costumed “residents” who
are eagerly going about their daily business performing chores,
working in their shops, and tending to their crops.
Visitors
both young and old will enjoy viewing the particulars of
Colonial life and chatting with the residents of Old Salem.
The village is open from April through November and guests may
combine their visit to this attraction with a trip to the nearby
House of Seven Gables at a reduced price.
