Location: Central Wharf, Boston Time: Mon - Fri 9am - 5pm, Sat - Sun 9am - 6pm Age appropriateness: All ages Cost: Varies The New England Aquarium, one of Boston's most visited family attractions, is full of wonderful exhibits that teach visitors young and old about the waters of the world and the marine life that lives there. A bright, modern facility, the aquarium boasts many diverse permanent exhibits as well as a number that change every few months. Kids will love watching the penguins and the harbor seals and be thrilled with the shark wall and the strange fish of the Northern Waters. They'll be wowed by the whales and scintillated by the iridescent animals of the deep. Outside of the aquarium, there's an activity center where children can participate in hands-on activities, stories, and dramatic play including puppet shows. Families can also take advantage of aquarium-sponsored boat tours, including a half-day whale watching trip. There's no need to leave the New England Aquarium for lunch or dinner. Open all-year long, the Harbor View Cafe offers burgers, pizza, and other kid-friendly delights while the al fresco Summer Cafe serves healthy sandwiches, salads, and refreshing fruit smoothies.
