The
Esplanade, a three-mile park that extends along the Boston shore of
the Charles River from the Boston Museum of Science to the Boston
University Bridge, is one of the nation's oldest parks.
An estimated 3 million people visit the
park each year, which contains a myriad of things to see and do
including six miles of walking and biking paths, six boating docks and three boathouses, a performance
facility for concerts and plays, playgrounds, tennis courts,
softball fields, a wading pool, and concession stands.
Parents can kick back and read a book while the children play
on the playground, kids can race model boats, and the whole
family will enjoy a leisurely gondola ride on the Charles River.
What a
great place for families to visit when on a Boston vacation! A trip
to the Esplanade provides some much-needed "down time" in the middle
of a busy family trip.
