Butterfly Place, located in nearby Westford, Massachusetts, is a
haven for lovers of these delicate winged creatures. This indoor
man-made habitat consists of a 3,100 square foot glass atrium that
stretches as high as 27 feet and is home to up to 500 butterflies at any given time,
representing more than 50 species from all around the world.
Butterflies that are native to New England are given special
attention. Visitors will also be treated to all kinds of
wonderful plants and shrubs inside this habitat.
There are two ways to view the tiny creatures at Butterfly
Place. Families that want to get up close and personal with the
butterflies can walk the path through the atrium or, if you
prefer, you may simply view them through the observation
windows.
Display cases also highlight the life
cycle of the butterfly. Helpful staff is always on hand to
answer your questions. Don’t forget to make a stop at the gift shop
where you can purchase your very own Papillon Hatching Kit.
